The Icon, Glasgow

This prominent flatted development overlooking the Clyde features 52 flats of varied size and layout over 12 storeys, with a commercial unit at ground floor, and basement parking.

While a stone and glass plinth holds the street pattern, the sculpted form above creates a clear individuality and identity for the building.  The lightweight zinc cladding and projecting windows reinforce this providing a texture in keeping with the rich mix of buildings along this stretch of the river. This tall wedge of zinc-clad accommodation tapers to a narrowed frontage, reducing the bulk of the building and it’s impact upon the streetscape, and by angling the building toward the Clyde, dramatic views onto and along the river are made available from every flat.
