Hawkhead Hospital

This project for the refurbishment and alteration of Burnett, Tait and Lorne’s socially and architecturally significant 1936 modernist Infectious Diseases Hospital and grounds, forms part of Kier Homes residential redevelopment of the Paisley hospital site.

The existing hospital buildings had fallen into disuse and suffered ongoing deterioration, the centrepiece of these being a number of unique streamlined buildings, an amalgam of linear and nautical forms derived from contemporary European and national precedents at that time, which have now been sensitively restored and adapted to form 80 new homes and apartments.
